Barrister Ikenga's Detention; The Gross Violators of Our Rights Must Not Be Given the Oxygen to Breath, Says Ambassador Ade Mario Emmanuel.

Following the order of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, which was made on Monday, 22nd of June, 2020, the Youth Advancement Initiative has, once more called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately release the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo Esq.

The arrest and the detention of Barrister Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo, is quite unconstitutional and as such, gross violators of our laws and orders must not be given oxygen to breath.

Y. A. I as a body will never bow or keep mum before any oppressor. Whosoever that is not satisfied with any allegations should approach the court of law rather than fuelling illegal arrest of any person. This is not a zoo country. Our freedom of expression mustn't be pocketed by any clueless leader.

We hereby call on the Inspector General of Police to adhere strictly to the order of the court in releasing "forthwith and unconditionally" the illegal and unlawful detention of Ugochinyere and maintain same. Arresting him disobeys the subsisting order of the court. Our rights and laws must be well respected.
