A 42-year old farmer, Ajide Olasupo, had been ordered to be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly raping a 35-year old woman. This order was made, following the sitting of an Osun State Magistrate court in Ifetedo on Thursday.
ASP Joseph Adebayo who is the Police Prosecutor disclosed that the defendant committed the offense on the 12th of February, 2020 around 2:10pm in Akintolu village of Ifetedo, Ife North Local Government of the State.
"The accused person lured the woman to his farm where he took advantage of that to have the woman's carnal knowledge". He alleged.
Additionally, Mr. Ajide was reported to have assaulted the woman while struggling to have her carnal knowledge.
Furthermore, after the incident, the victim reported to the police and this led to the arrest of the defendant.
While addressing the court, the prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code Laws of Osun 2002.
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.
While ruling, Magistrate Adekanmi Aseyeba ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ile-Ife Corectional Centre.
The matter was however, adjourned till September 8, 2020 for hearing.
