Black Wednesday: Tragedy in Lokoja As Petrol Tanker Lost Control.

 

The city of Lokoja was made to face mournful and sorrowful event this morning around 8:00am at Felele area. 

The incident occurred at Felele Area in Lokoja this morning following how a petrol tanker’s driver could not be able to control the tanker due to the failure of the vehicle’s brake. 

An eyewitness who spoke with one of our reporters said “a number of lives were lost this morning as a result of the vehicle’s brake failure, which added to the driver’s lost of control as the petrol tanker eventually fell-down and everywhere bust into fire”. 

 

The most disheartening part of it is that of the school bus of a school named New Horizon that equally became a victim of the sad event. 

 

All the pupils in that school bus, except a child, got burnt and gave up the ghost with immediate effect.

 We were able to gather that some motorcycles and lives got burnt beyond recognition as a mother lost three of his kids, a whole family died as a result of the incident and persons that could not even be counted.

Surprisingly, the residents and the passers-by, with their little efforts tried to extinguish the fire as the Fire Service Staff could not be seen at the location of the incidents; and this largely contribute to the high degree of destruction of the fire as there were no official personnel and tools to curtail it.
