YOUTH BODY ON SECURITY URGES CUSTOM ON PROACTIVENESS.

 

A youth body on Security in Nigeria, Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security Affairs, CONYSA, has said that the Nigerian Custom should be timely  when it comes to issues of National interest. 

The body made the call following a circular trending on social media at the early hours of yesterday, 5 September, 2020 which contained details that Boko Haram terrorists are all around the forests of Abuja, the Capital City of Nigeria awaiting a due date to attack strategic locations of target.

The alleged circular which took the official letter head of the Nigerian Custom and duely signed by the Deputy Controller General disclosed that Kunyami bush, Robochi in Gwagwalada forest, Kwaku forest in Kuje, Umiasha forest in Toto local government of Nasarawa state and Gegu which are all sorrounding the Federal Capital Territory are the logical areas where the terrorists are camped while getting ready to strike. 

The National Coordinator of the Youth body on Security, Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel addressing media men today 6 September, 2020 on the issue expressed dissatisfaction over the professional negligence of the Custom Authorities over a critical issue of National interest, pointing out that, in issues of such magnitude, the establishment should be able to put it's intelligence mechanism in place and be able to address the nation within five hours of its trending in other to calm the waves and the general public.

"We are not happy over the late response from Custom on this issue of national interest.

Security is a very key and important aspect of live. It shouldn't by any means be handled with levity.

However, Custom, is doing a great work in Nigeria, but I think it can do better mostly in this erra of fake news and security challenges", he added.

The coordinator also called on Custom to engage the Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security Affairs in other to prevent similar occurrence, stating that perpetrators of such ills in the society are masterminded by youths and that they are amidst the youths as such stands a better chance to play the intelligence role and bring forth result.

Amb. Mario admonished the general public specifically, the FCT dwellers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to appropriate security agencies, accordingly.
