CONYSA has expressed their dissatisfaction over the Inspector General of Police concerning his refusal in responding and acting upon the letter which was previously sent to him by the body.
The letter was sent to him with respect to calling for a security summit wherein the issues bothering security in Nigeria will be raised and consequent upon that; address the issue in line with the recommendations that will be initiated.
In an interview conducted by CORNELIUSLINKS on Tuesday, 6th of October, 2020 with the Chairman of the body, Ambassador Ade Mario Emmanuel said, “as a concerned citizen of this country, we have written to the Inspector-General of Police to have a dialogue with him toward organizing Security Summit wherein security experts across the country will meet to address the issue bothering this country’s security affairs”
He further stated that “ there is little or no cordial relationship between the security personnel and the youths’ organizations; the matter of security has gone beyond what those in khaki can singlehandedly handle because that is what has been happening over the years that has not been much fruitful”.
CONYSA is a group of different security experts across the 774 local governments in Nigeria with bulk of information that can definitely assist the security personnel in the country.
Ade Mario further said that “it is only the youths in the various communities that can meet their counterparts and talk to them heart to heart. It is not everybody that has the courage to meet with those in khakis to discuss the issues of security in their respective localities with them”.
“What we represent is to assist the security personnel in curbing the issue of security in this country and we are ready to do same in totality so as to collectively have a nation that is crime-free.”
“On this note, we hereby call on the Inspector-General of Police to treat our letter as a matter of urgency and to address same for the sake of building a strong relationship between the police and the youths. We are always ready to let out what we have”.
