A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo the state capital of Osun has, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 49 year-old man, Mr. Oyediran Mufutau Salami for allegedly obtaining the sum of N1,100,000 with false pretence to present a plot of land.
The Estate Agent who is facing three count charges of obtaining money by false, cheating and converting the complainant's money to his own use, pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against him.
The accused person was said to have committed the offense on September 19, 2020 at Uniosun Road, Oke Baale Osogbo, the state capital.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq told the court that the accused person did obtain the sum of N1,100,000.00 from one Amusat Abdulrafiu with a pretence to secure him a plot of land and known fully that his presentation was false.
He disclosed that the accused person did cheat and converted the sum of N1,100,000 obtained from the complainant to his own use.
Olayiwola noted that the offence committed by the accused person contrary to and punishable under section 419, 421 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun 2002.
Defence Counsel, Okobe Najite made an oral application for the bail of the accused person in most liberal term.
In her ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele ordered the remand of Salami in correctional facility.
She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till December 21, 2020 for ruling on bail.
