Just In: State Government pledges payment of bursary before 2021 runs to an end as students appeal to the DG.

The leadership of the National Association of Osun State Students, National Headquarters, coupled with the representatives from the local governments and the area office schooling in different institutions of higher learning in the country, have met with the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Dr. Benedict Alabi on Tuesday in respect of bursary payment and award of scholarships which has been left unpaid to the undergraduates who are indigene of Osun State for years. 

  



The National President of the union, Comr. Sanusi Abdulwasiu who led the team expressed the extreme concern of the leadership of the students’ union body in the State with respect to payment of bursary and award of scholarships.




He added that “the state government has indirectly shown signs of unwillingness to pay bursary which was last paid in 2012 and this, the students’ populace dissatisfy with because no student has enjoyed such a thing for years. " 



On the same measure, Comr. Abdulwasiu equally tabled the issue of Special Tuition fees for indigenous students who are schooling in state-owned institutions of higher learning, security challenges in the state, NAOSS National secretariat, bus and empowerment programs which shall ease the affairs of the students’ society.




Dr. Benedict Alabi, who after having welcomed the representatives, addressed them on behalf of the state government, adding that the needs of the student’s populace and scholarship award shall be attended to and its payment shall commence before this year runs to an end.



“The administration of Governor Oyetola has been doing her best to deliver beyond reasonable doubt even with the little resources that are available. This is evident in salary payment health, pensions and infrastructural growth in the state.” He said.
